WildlifeID Australia: The tool that helps you identify any Australian animal based on your observations.
The site contains thousands of animals and has several clever tricks to help find your unknown animal.
If you've observed an animal you can't name, just enter what data you can and your question "What is that?" will hopefully be answered.
All search fields are optional. Enter as much or as little as you want and then press search.
Browsing the search options and using the clever "Search Similar" button can quickly speed up your discovery of the right bird fish or insect.
If you don't know the exact type of animal you are looking for, don't feel obliged to guess. If you know it's a bird and that's all, just
select BIRD and stop there and focus on other things like size and colour.
For the real taxonomists out there, you'll find that WildlifeID differs from strict scientific phylogeny, in
favour of a more approachable tree of life. Scientists will still find all that they want here, but you won't find things listed under echinodermata (they'll be called starfish).
WildifeID does not provide detailed information about the animal except key phrases that might be used to describe it. WildlifeID's mission is
to create an effective tool for animal identification. Once you know what it is called, the full depth of internet information is just a click away
